  6. The Internet Gopher client/server provides a distributed information
  7. delivery system around which a world/campus-wide information system (CWIS)
  8. can readily be constructed.  While providing a delivery vehicle for local
  9. information, Gopher facilitates access to other Gopher and information
  10. servers throughout the world.

  12. Gopher appears to the user as a set of menus.  At each menu, an item can be
  13. selected, or the user may retrace their steps to the previous menu.

  15. Selecting menu items can lead to a variety of actions
  16. being performed, including displaying another menu, displaying a
  17. file, transferring a binary file, searching an index.
  18.  
  19. In this implementation of Gopher, AmigaGuide is used as the user interface,
  20. and menu items can be selected by clicking on them. Reverting to the 
  21. previous menu is accomplished by using the standard AmigaGuide Retrace
  22. button. Closing all the AmigaGuide windows terminates the Gopher session.

  27.   Startup   an amigaguide file to provide a basis for the user interface
  28.   Bookmarks a list of handy gopher pages

  32. Unpack Gopher into AmiTCP:bin/
  33. Unpack GopherStartup and GopherBookmarks into AmiTCP:db/
  34.  
  35. Start Gopher by issuing the GOPHER command from a CLI, whilst
  36. AmiTCP is running.
